An IK10 surveillance system must be managed to a defined set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that reflect its security mission. Unlike IT systems where uptime is the primary metric, surveillance systems must be measured against evidence quality, coverage continuity, and response time — because a system that is "online" but producing unusable footage has failed its security mission just as completely as a system that is offline. The KPIs below represent the minimum performance standards for a production IK10 deployment.

12.2 Preventive Maintenance Schedule

Preventive maintenance is the most cost-effective way to maintain IK10 system performance and avoid the much higher costs of reactive maintenance and emergency replacements. The maintenance schedule below defines the minimum frequency and scope of preventive maintenance activities. All maintenance activities must be documented in the maintenance log and deviations from schedule must be approved by the security manager.

12.3 Lifecycle Management & Replacement Planning

IK10 surveillance cameras and supporting equipment have defined operational lifespans that must be factored into the long-term budget planning for the system. Proactive lifecycle management — replacing components before they fail — is significantly more cost-effective than reactive replacement, which typically involves emergency procurement, overtime labor, and security gaps during the replacement period.

End-of-Life Planning: Begin the procurement process for replacement cameras 12 months before the planned replacement date to allow time for product evaluation, vendor qualification, and budget approval. Camera models are typically discontinued 5–7 years after launch, and replacement with a different model requires re-aiming and re-commissioning. Standardizing on a single camera family for the entire system minimizes this risk and reduces spare parts inventory requirements.
